Privacy Policy

Files are processed locally in your browser. We do not upload or store your GIF files on our servers. Analytics never include file content or file names.

Local GIF Processing

GIF Compressor is designed as a local browser tool. When you choose a GIF, compression runs in your browser through WebAssembly. The app creates a local download result for you, but it does not send the GIF file to our servers for compression or storage.

Analytics Data We Collect

We use privacy-safe analytics to understand whether the compressor works well across pages, presets, devices, and browsers. We only collect these analytics fields:

  • slug
  • preset_key
  • device_class
  • browser_family
  • os_family
  • is_ios_safari
  • app_version
  • compression duration bucket
  • input and output size buckets
  • failure_code

These fields help us diagnose slow compression, failed targets, iOS Safari memory issues, and preset quality without collecting the GIF itself or exact file sizes.

Analytics Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • file names
  • file hashes
  • blob URLs
  • base64 data
  • thumbnails
  • image content
  • local file paths
  • canvas snapshots

PostHog Settings

PostHog is configured for event analytics only. Autocapture is disabled. Session replay is disabled. Heatmaps are disabled. We do not enable tools that record the upload area, inspect file previews, or scan image content.

Cookies

We do not use third-party tracking cookies. The site may use first-party cookies for basic site preferences or first-party attribution, such as remembering a utm_source value. Analytics requests are sent without third-party cookies and without file data.

Service Providers

We may use hosting and analytics providers to operate the site and understand aggregate product reliability. These providers receive only the limited analytics fields listed above. They do not receive your GIF file, file name, file hash, blob URL, base64 data, thumbnail, or image content from this tool.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product changes. If we ever add server-side upload, cloud compression, account features, or new analytics fields, this policy and the product copy must be updated before launch.

Open-Source Software
